The workshop will begin with an introduction to the Franklin Method®, a therapeutic system that uses imagery and functional anatomy to improve the way we move and feel. The Franklin Method® principles include Concentration, Proprioception, The Art of Change, and the use of an Imagery Toolbox. In the Franklin Method we sense and feel the design of the body through movement using visualization, self-touch, and hand modeling. We also work with a partner in exercises to increase feedback.
We will apply these principles as we embody the design and function of the pelvis, including the bone rhythms of the pelvis and the embodiment of the hip joint. We will use various types of imagery, including anatomical , metaphorical, and the use of shapes and colors to embody the pelvic floor as it works as part of system when we breathe and in full body, dynamic movement. We will do various exercises with the Franklin Method® balls that help us improve posture, breathing, release tension and feel more present in our body.
